Some information about this item...

From the wild genius mind of Brian Tairaku Ritchie -- yes, THE Brian Ritchie of Violent Femmes fame -- comes this collaboration with Shakuhachi Club Milwaukee... If you think you know what a shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute) sounds like, think again! Playing unique taimu ("big nothing" or "big emptiness") wide-bore flutes created by Ken Mujitsu LaCosse of San Francisco, Ritchie and co. bend genres and blow lots of new air into the classic art of shakuhachi music.

This is an amazing album... sort of jazzy at times, contemplative at times, always interesting and -- like tea -- wonderfully refreshing.

Brian Tairaku Ritchie: taimu shakuhachi, gongs, percussion, horagai
John Sparrow: cajon, drums, tympani, gongs, percussion
Dave Gelting: upright bass
